About me (the poetry version):

I am an emerging poet currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota and working in an aluminum recycling facility. I hold a B.A. in Philosophy with a minor in Creative Writing from the University of Wyoming. Having been born and raised in Wyoming, my poetry often touches on loneliness and nature, though I write about plenty of other things — I am currently preoccupied with trains and trash. This blog, however, is not (currently) about my poetry, but about the poetry of others and why I personally write poetry. It is, I suppose, an exploration — hopefully for both you (my readers) and myself. Though many greater and more prolific poets have written on the subject, poetry is so expansive and so deeply personal that it can never have all that could be said about it actually said. As such, I hope here to shine what little light I possess on some corners of poetry not yet explored — or, at least, not yet explored by me.

I have been writing poetry for years — starting in earnest in high school — but have only recently begun submitting it for publication. My work has appeared or is forthcoming in Zone 3, Waxing & Waning, Book of Matches, SPECTRA Poets, Peauxdunque Review, and more. I am currently in the midst of a number of different writing projects which keep me quite busy, including a number of full-length poetry collections.

Though primarily a poet and a philosopher at heart, I do include things outside of those in my life. Though these interests won’t usually be featured here, I am an avid reader, an amateur photographer, a coffee nerd (espresso is my go-to method — it’s all about the versatility!), and a musician (focusing on acoustic guitar and dabbling in piano). I also love cooking and own a variety of houseplants. Recently, I have also been digging into hand binding books. Last, but far from least, I am a serious fountain pen user and collector — so feel free to write me a letter and you’ll get a handwritten response!

To read some of my own poetry, see the Publications page, and for more information about me, see my blog post “A Little Bit About Me” (though that post may interpret “little bit” somewhat loosely). That post is now a little out of date, but remains mostly accurate.
